How do I record my activities?
Tap the Play ▶ button in the top right corner of the app. Track your activity via Automatic (always on) or Manual Tracking (when you want to track a specific activity).
How has the challenge been funded?
The Schools Challenge has been funded by Ebbsfleet Development Corporation.
What are BetterPoints?
BetterPoints are a financially backed currency that you can redeem for high street vouchers or give to your favourite charity or community group (1,000 BetterPoints is equivalent to £1.). BetterTickets give you entry into prize draws. If you haven't done so already, make sure you join the Get Active in Ebbsfleet main challenge for the chance to win a lot more rewards for getting active!
What can I spend my points on?
Check out our list of vouchers by tapping Redeem on the bottom navigation bar of your app. You can also give your points to your favourite charity or community group by tapping Donate, including a number of local causes.
What type of activity counts?
Recorded walking, wheeling, cycling or scooting activities during the morning school run (7am - 10am) and after school run (2pm - 6pm) will count towards the challenge. Part of your activity must take place at your school.
Can the pupils use the app?
To use the BetterPoints app you must be 14 years of age and over. This restriction is in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) which protects every child under the age of 13.
Can I take part if I am in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, and if so, how do I record my journeys?
Yes! All kinds of wheelchairs and mobility scooters can be tracked as 'wheeling' in the app. If you select automatic tracking, your app will automatically track your journey. Due to the motion sensors inbuilt in your device, and the algorithms in the app, it may assume you are cycling, rather than using a wheelchair or mobility scooter. In your timeline, after completing your journey you will be able to amend this to wheeling and your journey will be updated.
If the challenge has already started, can I still join in?
Yes! Parents, guardians and staff can register to take part at any time during the challenge.
